Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. You’ll design and build scalable backend services with Java and Python, and own features end-to-end in a distributed system.

The role emphasizes ownership, AI-assisted development workflows, and working in a remote LATAM setup. You’ll join a highly technical team shaping security products and platform evolution.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years with Python for production-grade systems.
• Strong Java experience.
• AI/LLM-based development in production preferred.
• Experience with distributed architectures.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Startup or fast-paced environment capability.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
