Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems.

You will design, build, and maintain distributed backend services in Java and Python, own features end-to-end, and collaborate with a highly technical team. This 100% remote role from LATAM offers significant ownership and AI-assisted development workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years of Python experience building production-grade backends.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM-based development (AI agents, agentic systems, or LLM-powered apps).
• Experience building AI-driven features or LLM integrations in production.
• Distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Own features and services from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with reliability and performance focus.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
