Prometeo Talent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java and Python, leading distributed data pipelines and AI-assisted development workflows.

The role emphasizes ownership, high performance, and collaboration with a deeply technical team. This is a fully remote opportunity with LATAM flexibility, offering company laptop provisions and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend or software engineering experience.
• 5+ years Python production backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
