Job summary

DEPT is seeking a Senior Engineer to own significant portions of projects and drive them to completion. You’ll work with product, engineering, marketing, and finance to align on outcomes, balancing backend and frontend needs.

The role focuses on backend with occasional frontend work, and involves applying AI-driven approaches and collaborating across teams to deliver impactful digital experiences for global brands.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining production-level backend systems used by real people.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs and third-party systems.
• Solid working knowledge of database platforms, SQL and NoSQL.
• Frontend familiarity with modern frameworks (Angular) to read and review code.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure welcome).
• Daily, real-world use of GenAI productivity tools in development workflows.
• Working understanding of core LLM concepts and their fit for problems.
• Fluency with Git, Agile processes, and CI/CD tooling.
• Ability to research independently and know when to ask for help; track record of getting sh*t done.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy scalable backend services and APIs for global brands.
• Turn incomplete specs into clear requirements, tasks, and stories with estimates.
• Contribute to technical design of systems, schemas, and pipelines.
• Integrate third-party APIs and design contracts for frontends and services.
• Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify blockers and risks early to enable course correction.
• Advocate for testing, security, performance, and CI/CD best practices.
