Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join AI Pods, building robust AI-powered API services and agent workflows. You will design backend services, own contracts, ensure reliability, and integrate LLMs with secure, scalable architectures.

You will work with Python, AWS, Docker, and modern orchestration tools, contributing to RAG pipelines, security practices, and cross-functional collaboration with data and infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in backend engineering with microservices and distributed systems.
• Proficient in Python for high-performance cloud-native APIs.
• Familiar with AWS, Docker, ECS/EKS and RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of secure coding and auth/authz fundamentals, English B2+.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend API services and LLM orchestration layers.
• Own API contracts and service reliability end-to-end with graceful failure handling.
• Integrate LLMs with rigorous systems engineering, observability, and cost awareness.
• Develop and optimize RAG pipelines for ingestion, embedding, and retrieval.
• Build agent tools using LangChain/LangGraph and ensure secure, scalable workflows.
