Job summary

Prometeo Talent is partnering with a US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services in Java and Python, while leveraging AI-assisted development workflows to boost productivity without compromising quality.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of backend experience, strong Java and Python expertise, and a proven track record with distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years Python production backend experience.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based development in production environments.
• Experience building AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
