Prometeo Talent is assisting a US-based cybersecurity startup in its search for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems from the ground up.

The role requires deep backend expertise with Java and Python, plus hands-on AI/LLM experience. You will design, build, and maintain distributed services while collaborating with a highly technical team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development experience.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience, building production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development experience.
• Experience building AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows in production.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Proven experience building, maintaining, and improving products after launch.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup or fast-paced environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with reliability, performance, and maintainability in mind.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
