Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Java and Python and contribute to distributed systems from day one.

You’ll own features end-to-end, work with AI-assisted development tools, and collaborate with a highly technical team. 8+ years of backend experience and strong Java/Python expertise are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software/backend engineering experience.
• 5+ years of Python production backend development.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development in production.
• Experience with distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Proven ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup/fast-paced environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with reliability, performance, and maintainability in mind.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
