Prometeo Talent is partnering with a US-based cybersecurity startup to recruit a Senior Backend Engineer. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Java and Python, owning features end-to-end and driving architectural decisions in a fast-paced startup setting.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, AI-assisted development workflows, and close collaboration with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development experience.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience with production-grade systems.
• Strong experience with Java and distributed systems.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development experience in production.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, queues, and data pipelines.
• Own features end-to-end from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems focusing on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
