Qualifications

• Production software systems experience is required.
• Strong fundamentals in architecture, design, debugging, testing, and maintainability.
• Experience with large or complex existing codebases.
• Backend or full-stack experience with modern languages and frameworks.
• Experience building web apps and SaaS products.
• APIs, data modeling, distributed systems understanding.
• Relational databases and production data environments.
• Automated testing and modern development practices.
• Cloud, CI/CD, deployments, and production operations.
• Ability to trade-off tech decisions and own outcomes.
• Independent work style with product-minded thinking.

Responsibilities

• Navigate and evolve a large production codebase.
• Design and implement new product capabilities in a complex SaaS platform.
• Make architectural decisions as the product scales.
• Identify debt and reliability risks and improve them.
• Use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar AI agents extensively.
• Leverage AI to explore codebases, design, generate/refactor code, and tests.
• Build and evolve backend services, APIs, data models, and workflows.
• Contribute across the stack when needed and improve automation.
• Improve testing, observability, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with product leadership to translate problems into solutions.
• Help a small team achieve greater velocity through AI-assisted engineering.
