Job summary

Bionic Talent is seeking a detail-oriented Settlement Accountant for a US-based Personal Injury law firm. You will manage settlement through final disbursement, verify liens, prepare documents, and ensure precise bookkeeping in a fully remote setup.

Ideal candidates have 1–3+ years in accounting or financial coordination, familiarity with liens and settlements, and strong Excel skills. US-hours availability and confidentiality are required, with preference for PI firm experience.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years accounting, bookkeeping, or financial coordination experience.
• Experience with legal settlements, liens, medical payoffs, or personal injury law firms is preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial records, reconciliations, invoices, and disbursements.
• Excel proficiency (advanced).
• Experience with cloud-based tools and AI workflows such as Claude.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong written English and professional communication skills.
• Highly organized with good follow-up and time-management.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information.
• Willingness to work remotely with U.S. business hours.
• Preference for Personal Injury law firm experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage files from settlement through final disbursement.
• Prepare closing statements and settlement documents.
• Verify liens, payoffs, referral sources, and client disbursement amounts.
• Prepare and maintain wire templates for payments and disbursements.
• Verify all required case documentation and settlement checks before disbursement.
• Send lien verification requests to lienholders.
• Track and update lien information and remove duplicate entries.
• Identify liens requiring negotiation and follow up with lienholders.
• Obtain final lien payoffs and complete lien resolution before disbursement.
• Maintain accurate payoff documentation and Excel records.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date firm bookkeeping records.
• Review incoming invoices and supporting documentation.
• Identify and resolve incorrect or disputed charges.
• Process approved invoices and payments.
• Reconcile bank and operating accounts regularly.
• Track staff expenses and reimbursements.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
