Prometeo Talent is partnering with a US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer for 100% remote work in LATAM. You will design, build, and maintain distributed backend systems using Java and Python, with ownership of features from inception to production support.

AI-assisted development and fast-paced delivery are central to the role. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of backend experience, deep Java and Python expertise, and a strong ownership mindset in startup

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software/backend experience.
• 5+ years with Python, building production-grade backends.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based development in production.
• Experience: distributed systems, scalable architectures, async processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Proven ownership, autonomy in fast-paced startups.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Own features end-to-end from design to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with focus on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product/engineering to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while preserving quality.
• Participate in architectural discussions and key technical decisions.
