Job summary

Darwoft is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to join a remote-first, LATAM-based team building AI-native software for a modern transaction platform. You will own architectural decisions, navigate a large codebase, and drive reliability and velocity with AI coding agents.

The ideal candidate blends strong software fundamentals with pragmatic, product-minded thinking and ownership in a high‑growth environment. This is a contractor role with USD payments and 100% remote work.

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience building and operating production software systems.
• Experience with large or complex existing codebases.
• Experience with modern web applications and SaaS products.
• Knowledge of APIs, application architecture, data modeling, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, CI/CD, and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Navigate, understand, and evolve a large existing production codebase.
• Design and implement new product capabilities across a complex SaaS platform.
• Make pragmatic architectural and system design decisions as the product scales.
• Identify technical debt, risks, reliability issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar AI coding agents extensively throughout the lifecycle.
• Leverage AI to explore codebases, design implementations, generate/refactor code, and accelerate delivery.
• Build and evolve backend services, APIs, data models, and workflows.
• Contribute across the application stack when needed.
• Strengthen automated testing, observability, reliability, and production readiness.
• Improve development workflows, tooling, and engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across layers.
• Balance speed with maintainability.
• Collaborate with product leadership to translate business problems into technical solutions.
• Help a small team achieve greater development leverage through AI-assisted engineering.
