Job summary

Darwoft is partnering with a fast-growing LATAM startup seeking a Senior / Staff Software Engineer (AI-Native). You will navigate a large production codebase, design and implement new capabilities, and drive architectural decisions in a fast-paced environment that leverages AI coding agents to boost velocity.

The role emphasizes ownership, pragmatic design, and collaboration with a highly technical team. Remote-first with USD payments and a strong focus on reliability and platform growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years Python production backend experience.
• Strong Java experience.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based development and AI-driven features.
• Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Strong ownership and startup/fast-paced environment.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Navigate, understand, and evolve a large existing production codebase.
• Design and implement new product capabilities across a complex SaaS platform.
• Make pragmatic architectural and system design decisions as the product scales.
• Identify technical debt, architectural risks, reliability issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar AI coding agents extensively.
• Leverage AI agents to explore codebases, design implementations, generate and refactor production code.
• Build and evolve backend services, APIs, data models, and application workflows.
• Contribute across the stack when needed.
• Strengthen automated testing, observability, reliability, and production readiness.
• Improve development workflows, tooling, automation, and engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across layers.
• Balance speed with maintainability.
• Work with product leadership to translate business problems into technical solutions.
• Help the team gain development leverage through AI-assisted engineering.
