Job summary

Tether is seeking a Product Engineering Lead for Keet, a fully peer‑to‑peer messaging app built on Holepunch's P2P stack. You will lead the API and frontend teams, report to the CTO, and shape how Keet scales to a global user base with end-to-end encryption and no centralized servers.

The role blends engineering leadership with product partnership, emphasizing distributed, local‑first systems and rapid, high‑quality delivery at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience managing engineers who ship consumer products, ideally in chat, calling, or social apps.
• Strong product sense: you can tell a good feature from a busy one.
• Intuition for distributed and local-first systems. Offline-first and eventual consistency.
• Deep JavaScript and React.
• Initiative, curiosity, resilience, and the ability to give and receive direct critique.
• Bonus: experience with local-first apps, CRDTs or sync engines, offline-capable apps.

Responsibilities

• Run the API and frontend teams day to day: unblocking, reviewing, and keeping them shipping.
• Set and hold a high engineering bar for performance, reliability, and clean APIs.
• Own the technical design of features and the API surface between Keet's core and the app.
• Collaborate with product PMs to align on vision and priorities, and drive engineering execution.
