Job summary

Political Asylum Lawyers, a Houston-based immigration law firm, seeks an Accounting & Finance Manager (Hands-on) to oversee daily financial operations, reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role combines accounting expertise with business partnering, learning the firm’s systems, and gradually taking on planning duties from senior staff.

The ideal candidate has a CPA or advanced degree, 5+ years of finance experience, and proficiency with Excel and legal billing platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a professional services setting.
• Experience with trust/IOLTA accounting and reconciliations.
• Experience with billing systems, client payment plans, collections, and AR management.
• Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial leaders.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, billing, A/R, A/P, payroll, trust accounting, and tax coordination.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget/forecast reports; monitor cash flow.
• Oversee billing, collections, and AR aging; enforce procedures to reduce leakage.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with legal/accounting requirements.
• Support strategic planning, pricing, and KPI reporting.
