EPAM Systems in Argentina seeks a Lead Scala/Java Developer to drive architecture, design, and development of scalable, secure software. You will lead microservice initiatives and partner with global teams to deliver business capabilities.

You will own technical direction, ensure high availability, implement telemetry, and oversee production systems while maintaining security and process excellence across Agile disciplines.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years in software engineering at high volume or large-scale systems.
• 5+ years’ experience in Java, Scala, Kotlin, and REST API/backend services.
• 3+ years working with large distributed systems.
• 2+ years developing and operating services on major cloud providers (AWS).
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field; English B2+.

We are seeking a Lead Scala/Java Developer to drive the architecture, design, and development of highly performant, resilient, scalable, extensible, secure, and available software. The ideal candidate will collaboratively identify, design, develop, and deploy technology and process solutions that enable the delivery of business capabilities, with typical activities including microservice development, solution design, process improvement, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality software using Agile/Scrum development methodologies
• Enable the realization of strategic initiatives and operational improvements
• Establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
• Communicate complex ideas and concepts to non-technical peers and customers
• Manage and partner effectively with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives
• Implement all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data
• Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the environment
• Implement deep telemetry capabilities to provide ongoing success and performance metrics
• Implement service monitoring across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems
• Uphold company policies and legal/regulatory requirements
• Implement and maintain system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional industry experience with software development
• 3+ years of software engineering and design at high volume or large scale
• 5+ years of software development experience in Java, Scala, Kotlin, and REST API/Backend Services
• 3+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems and multi-tier architectures
• 2+ years of experience developing and operating services in one or more major cloud providers, such as AWS
• Experience with databases such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL
• Experience with message-driven architecture and development
• Expertise in CI/CD automation, infrastructure ownership, monitoring, and alerting configuration
• Showcase of debugging and optimizing code and automating routine tasks
• Experience implementing and managing high-capacity, redundant, and mission-critical environments
• Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Experience with uplifting existing services from on-prem to the cloud
• Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
