Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Technical Accounting Analyst to oversee memos for complex transactions under US GAAP and IFRS, and to partner with Controllership and Finance on accounting treatment and reporting.

The role involves preparing quarterly and annual financial disclosures, driving process modernization with regional teams, and updating global accounting policies. Strong English, IFRS knowledge, and SAP experience are required, with Big Four background preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least two years of relevant professional experience.
• Intermediate English proficiency or higher.
• Professional experience and knowledge in accounting.
• Knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience working with SAP.
• Experience with data automation and analytics tools such as Power Query, Power BI, KNIME and Google Workspace is preferred.
• Experience in a Big Four accounting firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and review of technical accounting memos for complex, significant and non-standard transactions per US GAAP and IFRS.
• Partner with Controllership, Finance and corporate business partners to analyze transactions and determine accounting treatment and reporting.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial reporting information submitted to the SEC reporting team to support Form 10-Q/10-K disclosures.
• Drive modernization of existing processes by collaborating with regional Controllership, sharing insights, and ensuring policy compliance.
• Facilitate and influence implementation of global accounting policies updates by reviewing and proposing changes to Corporate Circular Letters with regional Controllership.
• Effectively communicate technical accounting analyses to regional leaders and key partners.
• Collaborate on training for regional Controllership teams related to new or changed accounting policies.
