Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Geophysicist to contribute to exploration and appraisal efforts in Sandton. The role involves advanced interpretation of seismic and other geophysical data to identify hydrocarbon prospects, working with geologists and reservoir engineers to drive strategy and investment decisions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or a related earth science discipline.
• 8+ years of experience as a Geophysicist in Oil & Gas exploration.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation software (Petrel, GeoGraphix, IHS Markit).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and attribute analysis.
• Experience with reservoir characterization and prospect evaluation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data to identify structural and stratigraphic traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Conduct geophysical feasibility studies and assist in the planning of seismic acquisition programs.
• Apply advanced seismic processing and interpretation techniques, including AVO analysis and inversion.
• Assess uncertainties associated with geophysical interpretations and communicate risks effectively.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for management and exploration teams.
