Placements24 is seeking a senior Project Manager to lead upstream oil and gas projects in the Sandton area. The role involves planning, execution, and handover of complex capital projects with strict scope, budget, and schedule controls.

You will manage stakeholder expectations, coordinate with internal teams and external partners, and drive safety and regulatory compliance across all project phases. Exceptional leadership and communication are essential.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Civil) is required.
• 8+ years of project management experience in upstream oil & gas.
• Proven track record of delivering large capital projects on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with PMI and Agile methodologies; strong leadership and communication skills.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Project Manager to lead upstream operational projects in the Sandton area. This senior role demands exceptional leadership skills to oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of complex oil and gas projects, from conception to handover. You will manage project scope, budget, schedule, and resources, ensuring alignment with company objectives and stakeholder expectations. This is a significant opportunity to drive key initiatives within the South African energy sector and demonstrate your project management expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of upstream oil and gas projects, from feasibility studies to final commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Manage project execution, monitoring progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations .
• Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Prepare regular project status reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Civil) or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management , with a strong focus on upstream oil and gas operations.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale capital projects on time and within budget.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile) and software (e.g., MS Project).
• Strong understanding of oil and gas exploration, development, and production processes.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
