Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process. You will operate tractor-trailers, perform pre-trip inspections, secure freight, and maintain compliance with DOT regulations.

You may assist with dispatch communications and seek additional business opportunities. The role requires a valid CDL A with hazmat/tank endorsements, 1 year experience or completion of a FedEx program, and the ability to lift up to 100

Qualifications

• Must hold CDL Class A with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• 1 year experience within last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• MVR meets hiring standards and DOT requirements.
• Long combination vehicle experience may apply in certain states.
• Ability to count and perform basic math; good written and verbal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds; able to sit for extended periods; able to work in teams or alone.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convertor dollies as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Communicate with dispatch on delays, arrivals and equipment issues.
• Interact with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Follow hazardous materials handling procedures and comply with DOT rules.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
