TransPerfect is hiring an Associate Localization Engineer to troubleshoot and create solutions for localization workflows. The role focuses on preparing files, managing Translation Memories, scripting for data manipulation, and collaborating with engineers and project managers.

You will provide daily technical support, assist in pre-sale planning, troubleshoot translation processes, and help QA translated files. Strong English, a bachelor’s degree, and programming familiarity are required.

Formación

• Fluent English required.

• Experience with scripting or programming languages is desirable (Python, VB/VBA, C++, Perl, Java, JSP).
• Proficient with Windows and MS Office; strong QA mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate with Sales/CS for pre-sale planning and quoting with Senior Engineers’ support.
• Prepare files for localization per client requirements and automate data handling.
• Write scripts/macros to automate repetitive tasks.
• Test fixes and report bugs with Product Managers.
• Validate translations and manage Translation Memories.
• Contribute to CI of CAT tools and TM Server features.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by management.

Summary

Associate Localization Engineers (Associate LEs) are technically skilled individuals with a desire to both troubleshoot and create solutions for technical production issues including file preparation, Translation Memory management, script development for data manipulation, and defining strategies for project executions.

The Associate Localization Engineer is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment, working alongside our Localization Engineers and Technology Project Managers to develop creative solutions for handling complicated files and workflows. They are self-motivated to learn and become experts in localization and our company’s technology products.

Description

• Provide daily, project-based technical support to Production and Sales, under guidance from senior team members
• Assist Project Managers and Linguists in troubleshooting issues related to the translation process
• Interface and coordinate with Sales and Client Services (CS) to provide input on pre-sale planning and quoting of projects, with support from Senior Engineers
• Prepare various file types for the localization process to ensure compliance with client requirements
• Automate file analysis, parsing, and filtering
• Perform QA on translated files
• Manage and manipulate Translation Memories (TMs)
• Help validate new features in our CAT tool, TM Server, Analysis Package, and other products, in collaboration with senior team members
• Write scripts and/or macros in various programming languages to automate repetitive tasks performed by Project Managers, as necessary
• Work closely with software Product Managers to report and test fixes for bugs found by product users
• Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor

Required Skills

• Fluency in English
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
• Knowledge of computer, scripting, and markup languages including (but not necessarily all of) Python, VB, VBA, C++, Perl, ASP, Java, JSP, XML, HTML, XLIFF
• High level of proficiency in Windows platform
