Job summary

Belong in Buenos Aires is seeking an experienced Accounting Lead to own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close. You will lead automated processes, oversee the balance sheet, and produce clear, business-focused financial reporting.

You will partner with the Finance Data Engineer to improve controls and scale the close as Belong grows. This role requires strong US GAAP knowledge, multi-entity experience, and hands-on leadership to ensure audit readiness and accurate books across the

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience with close ownership.
• Experience in a venture-backed startup or fast-growing company is required.
• Proven record leading a lean close and handling complex journal entries and reconciliations.
• Strong command of US GAAP, accruals, and balance-sheet substantiation.
• Experience supporting or leading external audits, including PBC schedules.
• Experience budgeting and reporting on variances with non-finance owners.
• Strong accounting systems experience and ability to learn new workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead an Automation-Enabled Close: own the close calendar, deadlines, and ownership; review outputs and complex entries; ensure accurate, repeatable close.
• Own the Balance Sheet: set reconciliation standards and review material reconciliations.
• Produce Reporting That Explains the Business: monthly statements and budget-to-actual analyses with clear narrative.
• Lead the Audit from Inside Belong: coordinate PBC, respond to auditors, keep books audit-ready.
• Lead the Team and Set the Accounting Standard: supervise team members and apply US GAAP policies.
• Build a Better Finance Machine: collaborate with Finance Data Engineer to automate postings and improve workflows.
