The American University in the Emirates is searching for an Event Officer with experience in the hospitality and event industry responsible for overseeing and managing high-profile events, select venues, adhere to the given budget, arrange onsite vendors and ensure client satisfaction and smooth event execution.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or related field from an accredited university
• 2 to 3 years experience in events management

Skills / Training / Knowledge

• Team oriented, strong willed and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and community members
• Experience in planning, organizing, and executing events and activities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of work
• Skills in building and maintaining relationships with students, faculty, community organizations, and external partners
• Excellent supplier and vendor relationship management
• Knowledge of online marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and design elements

Job Description

1. Contribute and assist the department head in the implementation of department strategies, goals and objectives.
2. Organize and attend activities or events to raise awareness about the university and provide feedback.
3. Conduct market research to identify opportunities for promotion and growth for the university.
4. Collaborate with managers in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.
5. Coordinate activities related to budget and funding (event preparation and submissions, as well as progress reports), liaise with appropriate service providers.
6. Ensure implementation of events and campaigns to publicize priority issues and/or major events, to include drafting, coordinating efforts, monitoring and reporting on progress, taking appropriate follow-up action, and analyzing the outcome.
7. Coordinating design approval, printing procedures and distribution.
8. Liaise with various service providers and internal departments to facilitate events and activities.
9. Responsible for events and activities related to VIP dignitaries.
10. Assign and sort tasks for junior staff and monitor performance and report to the department head
11. Act as focal point on specific issues, monitor and report on developments, respond to inquiries, etc.
12. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the assigned event; monitor and analyze event development and implementation.
13. Identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; identify and track follow-up actions.
