Hatch and Hire Staffing Solutions FZE is seeking a hands-on Electrical Substation Test Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities for GIS/AIS switchgear, transformers, and related substations in the UAE. You will review schematics, prepare FAT/SAT documents, ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards, and provide technical support during project execution.
GCC experience is mandatory, with familiarity with major manufacturers such as Siemens, ABB, Schneider, GE, and SEL.
Perform testing & commissioning of switchgears (GIS & AIS) upto 33kV including CB, CT, VT etc., and other substation equipment and panels.
Perform testing & commissioning of Power Transformers up to and DC chargers in substations.
Perform earth testing including the substation grid earthing measurement.
Execute maintenance testing of substation electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgears, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, and protection systems.
Prepare detailed testing and preventive maintenance schedules for protection systems and substation equipment.
Prepare method statements, testing procedures, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) & SAT (Site Acceptance Test) documents, and test reports for client approval.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of technical documentation and reports as per project requirements.
Interpret and review electrical drawings including schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, interlocking logic, GA drawings, and single line diagrams (SLDs).
Provide technical support during project execution.
Participate in design review meetings with clients and consultants to address technical queries.
Provide technical support during pre-tender stage.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC/IEEE/Utility standards, and company quality procedures.
Follow HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements while executing site activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for testing procedures and safety practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Willingness to travel and work at site locations.
Proficiency in using test kits including HV kit.
Strong understanding of power system principles and schemes.
2-8 years of hands-on experience in testing, commissioning, and maintenance (substations/power plants).GCC EXP is Mandatory
