Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Water Treatment Chemicals Sales Representative to drive business growth and manage customer accounts within our industrial and commercial sectors. In this role, you will combine your technical chemistry knowledge with a consultative sales approach to identify new business opportunities, assess clients' water systems, and recommend custom chemical treatment programs. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in industrial B2B sales and a proven track record of selling specialty chemicals used in cooling towers, boilers, reverse osmosis (RO) plants, and wastewater facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Identify and acquire new B2B customers across diverse industries including food and beverage, power generation, district cooling, manufacturing, and municipal facilities.
- Account Management: Maintain and expand long-term relationships with existing customers through regular service visits, consumption tracking, and proactive problem-solving.
- Technical Assessments: Visit client sites to inspect water systems (boilers, cooling towers, RO systems). Collect water samples, use field testing kits, and interpret water analysis reports.
- Chemical Application Programming: Design and propose custom chemical dosing programs featuring antiscalants, corrosion inhibitors, biocides, flocculants, and oxygen scavengers to optimize water quality and system efficiency.
- Product Trials & Validation: Coordinate and manage field product trials, monitor performance metrics, and successfully convert successful trials into long-term commercial supply agreements.
- Commercial Negotiation: Prepare comprehensive technical proposals, calculate cost-benefit metrics, deliver sales presentations, and negotiate pricing to close deals.
- Training & Compliance: Provide training to customer maintenance crews and engineers on the safe handling, dosing, and storage of chemicals, ensuring adherence to safety data sheets (SDS).
- Reporting: Maintain clean records in the CRM database, forecast monthly sales goals, and monitor local competitor activity and market trends.
Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of proven experience in technical field sales, specifically handling specialty water treatment chemicals or heavy industrial utility chemicals.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of boiler, HVAC, and membrane/RO desalination applications. Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets (TDS) and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Sales Aptitude: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding quotas. Comfortable navigating long B2B corporate sales cycles.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory to visit client manufacturing facilities and operational sites.
- License: A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel are highly preferred.
