Job summary

UNICO MEA is seeking a Technical Designer for Joinery & Wooden Doors to develop detailed technical drawings and design solutions for joinery projects. You will ensure compliance with specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and installation requirements.

Responsibilities include producing shop and production drawings, coordinating with architects, MEP, and structural teams, and incorporating client comments.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in technical design for joinery or interior fit-out.
• Proven experience preparing shop drawings and technical details for joinery and wooden doors.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, suppliers, production, and site teams.
• U.A.E. and GCC project experience is an advantage.
• Team player, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines.

Position Overview:

As a Technical Designer - Joinery & Wooden Doors at UNICO MEA, you will be responsible for developing detailed technical drawings and design solutions for joinery and wooden door projects, ensuring that designs comply with project requirements, approved specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and installation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed technical drawings for joinery, wooden doors, frames, and related components.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements to develop accurate technical solutions.
• Develop shop drawings, production drawings, sections, details, and installation drawings.
• Ensure drawings are practical, accurate, and suitable for manufacturing and site installation.
• Coordinate drawings with architectural, interior design, MEP, structural, and other disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
• Coordinate with the estimation, production, procurement, and project teams to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and achievable.
• Review material specifications, finishes, hardware, ironmongery, and construction details.
• Incorporate consultant and client comments into drawings and follow up on approvals.
• Prepare and revise drawings based on site conditions, design changes, and project requirements.
• Ensure all drawings are produced in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and approved design requirements.
• Support the production and site teams by providing technical clarification and resolving drawing-related issues.
• Maintain proper drawing registers, revisions, and documentation throughout the project.

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of joinery, wooden doors, frames, finishes, and interior fit-out works.
• Strong understanding of joinery construction, materials, manufacturing processes, and installation methods.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and design details.
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and technical drawing preparation.
• Knowledge of 3D modelling software such as SketchUp, Revit, or similar is an advantage.
• Good understanding of door hardware, ironmongery, finishes, and construction details.
• Strong attention to detail, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
