The Supply Chain Instock Manager - Imports will take ownership of import supply chain performance from manufacturer planning through product availability in fulfillment centers.
The role supports Amazon's international expansion goals by improving in-stock rates, inventory health, buying accuracy, vendor lead times, and import selection readiness.
The position requires daily business ownership, practical decision-making and close coordination with global stakeholders across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Europe, APAC, MENA, and vendor networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage availability and inventory health for import selection across direct import supply chain operations.
- Improve in-stock rates, buying accuracy, inventory planning, forecast reliability, vendor lead times, and fill-rate performance.
- Monitor unhealthy inventory, supply gaps, demand changes, and fulfillment center availability to protect customer experience.
- Create, run, and evaluate buying and forecasting scenarios to support stronger purchasing decisions.
- Use data-driven analysis to solve complex supply chain problems related to imports, availability, vendor operations, and inventory flow.
- Develop inventory management strategies that improve product availability while reducing excess, shortage, and slow-moving stock risk.
- Drive automation programs that simplify import planning, improve forecast execution, and support scalable supply chain operations.
- Act as an internal consultant to vendors on forecasting, buying, operational planning and performance improvement.
- Partner with senior vendor leaders to optimize joint import business performance and support long-term growth.
- Work with global stakeholders to understand regional needs, adjust priorities and respond quickly to changing business requirements.
- Track key supply chain metrics and translate performance data into clear actions for vendors and internal teams.
- Support direct import business growth by improving end-to-end processes from manufacturer readiness to fulfillment center availability.
- Identify process gaps in buying, replenishment, lead time management and vendor execution, then drive corrective actions.
- Maintain strong ownership of assigned import categories, business priorities and operational outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate risks, opportunities, trade-offs and recommendations clearly to internal leaders, vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Travel internationally when required to support vendor engagement, operational alignment, and import business development.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, inventory management, instock management, project management, buying, replenishment or import operations.
- At least 5 years of hands‑on Excel experience for analysis, forecasting, planning, tracking and business reporting.
- Strong understanding of inventory health, in-stock management, forecast accuracy, vendor lead time, fill rate and supply chain performance metrics.
- Previous experience managing business relationships with multinational companies or global vendors.
- Knowledge of analytical tools used for supply chain planning, performance reporting, forecasting and operational decision-making.
- Fluency in English with the ability to communicate clearly across international stakeholder groups.
- Ability to travel internationally when business needs require vendor or regional engagement.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work autonomously in ambiguous and demanding environments.
- Demonstrated ability to convert complex data into practical supply chain actions and measurable business improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with confidence engaging senior vendor leaders and internal business teams.
