The Structural Inspector serves as an important site-level quality control point between approved structural design and actual construction. By examining structural elements as work progresses, the inspector helps identify deficiencies before they become embedded in the completed building, protecting structural integrity, construction quality, safety, and compliance. The position requires continuous interaction with contractors, engineering teams, and project management. Inspection findings must be technically sound, thoroughly documented, and communicated quickly enough to support corrective action without compromising project standards or construction progress.
Candidates should hold a diploma or bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline and bring at least eight years of professional experience in structural inspection, construction quality assurance, or closely related site activities.
Hands-on experience inspecting building structures is essential. Applicants should understand structural construction sequences, materials, workmanship requirements, approved drawings, specifications, and the inspection controls required at different stages of a building project.
Strong technical documentation skills are important because inspection decisions must be supported by accurate records, photographs, measurements, test information, and professionally prepared reports. Familiarity with construction management software and modern inspection tools is expected.
Candidates should also understand construction site safety requirements and be capable of working independently across several inspection priorities. The role requires sound judgment, careful attention to detail, and the confidence to communicate deficiencies clearly to contractors and engineering teams while maintaining professional working relationships.
Structural inspection provides direct influence over the quality, safety, and long-term performance of major building projects. Abu Dhabi 's continuing investment in complex developments creates sustained demand for experienced professionals capable of combining technical construction knowledge with disciplined site inspection and quality control. At AECOM, the position provides exposure to multidisciplinary building projects where inspectors work alongside structural engineers, construction specialists, project managers, and contractors. This environment supports continued development in construction quality assurance, technical compliance, digital inspection practices, and complex project delivery.
