Job summary

Gems Wellington Academy in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, is seeking a dedicated SEN Support Teacher to assist students with special educational needs through individualized teaching and targeted interventions. You will collaborate with HOI and teachers to implement IEPs, differentiate learning activities, and monitor progress, ensuring inclusive practices within the mainstream classroom.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEN and additional learning needs through appropriate, individualised teaching and interventions.
• Support HOI in develoing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted learning support strategies.
• Adapt and differentiate learning activities and resources to meet individual student needs.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group interventions to support academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress, reviewing support strategies as required.
• Work closely with Class Teachers and Subject Teachers to promote effective inclusion within the mainstream classroom.
• Communicate regularly with parents and relevant staff regarding student progress and support needs.
• Liaise with the HOI, school leadership, and external specialists where appropriate.
• Promote student wellbeing, independence, confidence, and positive behaviour while maintaining safeguarding standards.
• Contribute to an inclusive school environment and participate in relevant meetings, training, professional development, and school activities.
