What You'll Do

• Plan and deliver engaging Secondary Spanish lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and cultural understanding.
• Use inquiry-based teaching methods to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and active participation in language learning.
• Support students across IB-aligned learning pathways, with preference for experience in MYP and DP teaching.
• Create an inclusive classroom where EAL learners, gifted students, and students requiring additional support can progress with confidence.
• Differentiate tasks, assessments, and classroom strategies to match varied learning needs and language levels.
• Integrate technology, digital language tools, multimedia resources, and creative activities to improve student engagement.
• Assess, record, and communicate student progress using data, feedback, and personalised learning support.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design curriculum plans, learning resources, assessments, and cross-cultural learning opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community to support student wellbeing and achievement.
• Contribute to co-curricular activities, events, language initiatives, community programmes, and wider school development.
• Engage in professional learning and reflection to improve teaching practice and support continuous school improvement.

Ideal Profile

• Certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent with Spanish or MFL specialism.
• Minimum 3 years of solid and demonstrable experience teaching Secondary Spanish.
• Experience in an IB curriculum school is preferred but not essential.
• MYP and DP teaching experience is preferred but not essential.
• Strong understanding of inquiry-based language teaching and international curriculum expectations.
• Ability to inspire students through interactive Spanish lessons, cultural context, real-world communication, and student-centred learning.
• Creative, energetic, and reflective teaching approach with strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
• Confident use of technology and assessment data to enhance learning outcomes.
• Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, professional growth, and collaborative teaching practice.
• Ability to provide a UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police clearance as required.
