Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Design Lead (Electrical - DC) to oversee engineering activities for solar PV plants, including generation estimates, layout, DC SLD, module sizing, inverter sizing, SMB, earthing, and cable calculations. The role involves BIM 3D model development and coordination across Civil, Structural, Instrumentation, and MEP teams, from pre-bid through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 10–12 years of design experience in Solar PV power plants or power distribution projects.
• Knowledge of National and International Codes and Standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical inputs to tendering team.
• Timely delivery of engineering drawings & documents.
• Ensure deliveries are aligned to project schedule.
• Review drawings by Design Engineers & Draughts Persons; check design & sizing calculations of electrical equipment and obtain client approvals.
• Review vendor deliverables pertaining to engineering.
• Estimate and plan man-hour requirements.
• Review BOQ and submit to contracts team with clarifications.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for inter-departmental checks.
• Provide support to Site Execution team.
• Check pre-award evaluation of vendors and forward validation documents to Supply Chain Management.
• Inspect equipment from finalized vendors after validation submission.
• Clarify design requirements to Site Execution Team.
• Collect inputs from client & Project Engineering Manager for project details.
• Coordinate with Operations and inform design specs for approvals.
• Collect inputs for General Arrangement Drawings from Vendors.
• Check deliverables like Cable Routing/Layout, Earthing/Layout, Lightning Protection Layout.
• Provide support to Electrical AC, Civil/Structural for reviewing vendor drawings.
• Submit man-hour estimates for design reviews.
