Job summary

Tanqeeb in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Shift Controller (Semi Finished) for our steel operations. The role focuses on billet handling, ensuring compliance with production requirements, traceability and coordination with rolling mills.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of casting parameters, at least five years in a steel plant, and experience with billet quality and gas cutting systems. This is an on-site position requiring hands-on supervision and adherence to work instructions.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in billet handling in a steel plant.
• Familiarity with casting parameters and billet quality.
• Exposure to gas cutting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carries out duties assigned by the supervisor according to production requirements.
• Marks the first and last billet of each heat for traceability.
• Manually write heat numbers when marking machine is unavailable.
• Verifies the billet counts and informs the CCM control room.
• Identifies non-conforming products and places them in the inspection bed.
• Inspects and stacks good and non-compatible products per the working instruction CCS-WI-011.
• Coordinates billet transfers with rolling mills controller on a daily basis.
• Ensures availability of consumables and tools for billet handling operations.
• Keeps the work area clean and free of obstacles.

• Sufficient Technical knowledge of casting and casting parameters

Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)

Any preferred professional training

In-depth technical knowledge of billet quality

Professional Experience (Must haves)

Around 5 Years in a Steel Plant as a billet handling operator

Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations

Around 3 Years with billets caster industry having gas cutting system

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Carries out duties assigned by the supervisor according to production requirements.
• Marks the first & last billet of every heat for the traceability purpose.
• Manually write the heat number on the first & last billet in case of the absence of marking machine for any reason.
• Verifies the physical number of produced billets & informs the CCM control room.
• In case of any abnormality, he identifies the non-conforming products and keeps it in inspection bed.
• Controls, inspects and stacks the good products and the non-compatible sequence in accordance to the WI (CCS-WI-011).
• Coordinate with the rolling mills controller to transfer the required billets on daily basis as per the working instruction.
• To ensure availability of consumables and tools required for carrying out billet handling operation in the CC machine.
• Ensures that work area is clean and free of any obstacles or encumbrances.
