Tiger Steel Eng.LLC. in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a senior structural detailer to independently check Tekla models and related drawings for steel/PEB projects, ensuring accuracy, constructability and compliance before release.
The candidate should have 10+ years in structural detailing, with at least 5 years of independent Tekla checking, a Civil/Structural degree or ITI Draughtsman, and strong mentoring and coordination abilities to guide junior staff and meet project deadlines.
Independently check Tekla models and drawing packages for structural steel and PEB projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, constructability and compliance before submission or fabrication release.
Review the latest engineering drawings, approved connection details, project specifications, client standards and answered RFIs before checking.
Check model geometry, grids, levels, member sizes, material grades, orientation, offsets and interfaces with adjoining structures.
Verify connections, plates, bolts, holes, welds, stiffeners, bracing, base plates and anchor-bolt arrangements against approved engineering information.
Check GA, erection, assembly, single-part and fabrication drawings for dimensions, marks, quantities, annotations, weld symbols and consistency with the model.
Assess fabrication and erection practicality, including assembly clearances, bolt access, welding access and potential clashes.
Check BOMs, bolt lists, material reports and NC/DXF outputs for consistency with the checked model and drawings.
Record checking comments clearly, coordinate corrections with modelers/detailers and confirm closure through back-checking.
Verify that design revisions and client comments are incorporated across all affected models, drawings and production information; highlight impacts on previously released work.
Raise RFIs for discrepancies and refer proposed design changes to the responsible design engineer.
Maintain checking records, guide junior staff and complete internal checking sign-off in accordance with the company’s release procedure.
Checked models and drawings, checking markups, closed-comment records, verified production information and release recommendations.
Experience: Minimum 10 years in structural steel detailing, preferably 10–15+ years, including at least 5 years of independent Tekla model and drawing checking.
Qualification: Diploma/Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, or ITI Draughtsman with relevant experience.
Technical skills: Advanced Tekla Structures proficiency; checking of GA, fabrication, assembly, single-part and erection drawings; strong knowledge of connections, bolts, welds, materials, fabrication and erection practices.
Responsibilities:
Verify models and drawings against approved project documents; check BOMs and NC/DXF outputs; manage revisions, raise RFIs and ensure drawing quality before production release.
Standards: Knowledge of applicable AISC, AWS, BS/EN or other project-specific standards.
Preferred background: Industrial buildings, pipe racks, platforms, PEB and hot-rolled steel structures; fabrication shop/site exposure.
Other requirements: Strong coordination, communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to meet project deadlines.
