Job summary

Orion Engineering Services is seeking a Technical Safety Engineer for a Gas Treatment Plant Project. The role focuses on identifying major hazards, assessing risks, and coordinating EPC safety activities across design and operations.

The candidate will have a Master’s in Safety/Process Engineering with industrial risk management, 15+ years in safety engineering, and experience in gas/petrochemical facilities. Proficiency in English is essential and frequent travel to Iraq is expected.

Qualifications

• Master in Safety/Process Engineering with a degree in industrial risk management.
• A post graduate qualification in safety engineering or hazard and risk management would be an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years' work experience as a Safety Engineer.
• Experience in gas or petrochemical facilities is required.
• Strong written and verbal English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Identify major hazards and manage risk across gas treatment plant projects.
• Identify and implement measures to reduce risk to ALARP and support safety cases.
• Coordinate EPC phase, safety screening of design documentation and safety studies.
• Lead investigations, inspections and audits and provide safety recommendations.
• Maintain safety design standards and compliance with legislation and client requirements.
• Travel for business trips to Iraq as required.
