Job summary

FacadeToday in the UAE is seeking a senior façade structural engineer to lead the structural design of façade, curtain wall and cladding systems for complex building envelopes.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of experience in façade projects, strong knowledge of wind loads, materials, connections, and international codes, and is capable of coordinating with architects, consultants and fabricators in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Expertise in façade, curtain wall, cladding, glazing, or building envelope projects.
• Strong knowledge of façade structural systems and materials.
• Proficiency in structural analysis/design software and AutoCAD.
• Experience with international standards and design codes.
• UAE/GCC façade experience is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and engineering of façade, curtain wall, cladding, glazing, and aluminum systems.
• Perform structural calculations and analysis for façade systems, including wind, dead, seismic, and other loads.
• Review and approve structural drawings, shop drawings, calculations, and submissions.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, BIM teams, and site teams.
• Develop and review façade structural details, connections, brackets, anchors, and support systems.
• Ensure designs comply with international codes, project specs, and authority requirements.
• Review material specs and technical data sheets for performance requirements.
• Provide technical solutions for design changes, site conditions, and issues.
• Conduct technical reviews of façade designs to identify constructability issues.
• Support preparation of method statements, technical reports, calculations, and design docs.
• Provide mentorship to junior structural engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure designs are fabrication-friendly.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support for installation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform structural calculations and analysis for façade systems, including wind loads, dead loads, seismic loads, and other applicable loads.
• Review and approve structural drawings, shop drawings, calculations, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, structural engineers, BIM teams, and project/site teams.
• Develop and review façade structural details, connections, brackets, anchors, and support systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international codes, project specifications, and authority requirements.
• Review material specifications, technical data sheets, and structural performance requirements.
• Provide technical solutions for design changes, site conditions, and engineering issues.
• Conduct technical reviews of façade designs and identify potential design or constructability issues.
• Support the preparation of method statements, technical reports, calculations, and design documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior structural engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical and suitable for fabrication.
• Conduct site inspections when required and provide technical support for installation and construction issues.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables are completed accurately and within project deadlines.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• 8-12 years of experience in structural engineering, with significant experience in façade, aluminum, curtain wall, cladding, glazing, or building envelope projects.
• Strong knowledge of façade structural systems, connections, materials, and installation methods.
• Proficiency in structural analysis/design software, AutoCAD, and relevant engineering tools.
• Experience with international standards and structural design codes.
• Strong understanding of wind-load calculations and façade performance requirements.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, architects, and manufacturing teams.
• Excellent technical, analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• UAE/GCC façade experience is mandatory.
