Job description

Role Context

This role sits at the intersection of asset performance, engineering analysis, portfolio planning and investment decision support. The Senior Specialist will examine interconnected gas processing and transportation systems at portfolio level to determine where existing assets can deliver more value before additional capital is committed. The position requires sufficient technical depth to challenge assumptions, identify system constraints and validate optimization potential while maintaining a clear boundary between strategic portfolio analysis and detailed engineering design. A major measure of success will be the creation of a credible pipeline of optimization initiatives that leadership can act upon. Recommendations must withstand technical review by Engineering and Operations as well as economic scrutiny from Finance, investment committees and value assurance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct integrated value chain assessments covering gas processing trains, NGL facilities, pipelines, compression systems, processing assets and evacuation infrastructure.
  • Analyse interconnected operating systems to identify bottlenecks, unused capacity, operational flexibility and areas where portfolio value is being lost.
  • Evaluate proposed capital projects against existing infrastructure capability to determine whether investment can be avoided, reduced or deferred.
  • Identify practical debottlenecking, asset stretch and capacity optimization opportunities that can unlock additional production without unnecessary capital expansion.
  • Quantify incremental throughput, revenue potential, capital avoidance and other measurable benefits associated with optimization initiatives.
  • Prepare high-level economic assessments incorporating CAPEX, NPV, IRR and sensitivity analysis to support investment prioritisation.
  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of optimization and growth opportunities, recording value potential, maturity, status, dependencies and required next actions.
  • Examine gas and NGL systems from a portfolio perspective rather than evaluating individual assets in isolation.
  • Test technical and commercial assumptions supporting proposed investments and present evidence-based alternatives where existing capacity can satisfy business requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Operations teams to secure reliable technical information, operating data and validation of proposed optimization opportunities.
  • Work across ADNOC Upstream, DM and T and other Group entities to identify cross-entity infrastructure synergies and integrated value opportunities.
  • Translate simulation, system performance and engineering findings into concise commercial recommendations suitable for senior leadership review.
  • Provide technically credible challenges to project assumptions without moving into detailed engineering responsibilities.
  • Support investment and value assurance discussions with clearly documented technical rationale and defensible economic analysis.
  • Track approved initiatives through implementation to verify that expected production, revenue and capital-efficiency benefits are actually achieved.
  • Conduct post-implementation lookback assessments comparing forecast value against realized outcomes.
  • Refine the optimization opportunity portfolio as operating conditions, production forecasts and infrastructure constraints evolve.
  • Help establish strong analytical credibility for value chain optimization within a developing organizational function.
Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor "s degree in Engineering and bring around 8 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years working in process optimization, systems optimization, asset optimization, value chain planning or technical economics within oil and gas, LNG or petrochemical operations. Strong candidates will have hands-on exposure to identifying and quantifying debottlenecking, capacity expansion and CAPEX avoidance opportunities, ideally with evidence that projected benefits were subsequently verified through operating results. A strong understanding of gas processing systems is essential, including familiarity with NGL fractionation, compression, pipeline hydraulics, LNG systems and the operational relationships between interconnected facilities. The role requires an individual contributor who can independently structure complex analyses, question established assumptions and influence multidisciplinary stakeholders without relying on direct reporting authority. Experience presenting technical and economic recommendations to senior management, investment committees or equivalent governance forums will be particularly valuable. Excellent written and spoken English is required, together with the ability to communicate complicated system behaviour and investment trade-offs in clear business terms.
