Role Context

The Manager - Integrated Gas Portfolio Planning will operate at portfolio level, connecting assets, projects, infrastructure, production plans, commercial requirements, and future investments into a single integrated planning framework. The role is responsible for identifying where existing capacity can be unlocked, capital expenditure can be avoided or deferred, and gas molecules can be allocated more efficiently across the value chain. It must balance near-term optimization opportunities with long-range production, demand, infrastructure, and business planning requirements. The position also serves as a critical interface between Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Upstream, DM&T, and other Group entities. Technical simulation and detailed design resources remain within Engineering, requiring this role to set priorities, frame business questions, and translate technical outputs into portfolio-level recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead integrated portfolio management across existing gas assets, projects under development, and emerging growth opportunities.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of capacity, production, infrastructure, constraints, investments, and future expansion requirements.
  • Conduct end-to-end gas value chain assessments to identify optimization opportunities and portfolio synergies.
  • Coordinate closely with ADNOC Upstream, DM&T, and other Group entities on integrated planning priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to unlock additional value across production, processing, transportation, infrastructure, and market interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain long-term production and capacity plans covering existing operations and future developments.
  • Integrate asset, project, infrastructure, and expansion plans into a coherent long-range portfolio outlook.
  • Lead preparation of long-term production assumptions supporting the Business Plan.
  • Establish a single trusted capacity and production planning basis for Finance, Marketing, Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate portfolio constraints that could restrict production, processing, transportation, or market delivery.
  • Identify debottlenecking opportunities capable of increasing capacity without major new-build investment.
  • Screen potential capacity expansions and strategic capital projects at an early stage.
  • Conduct high-level technical and economic evaluation of new growth opportunities.
  • Prioritize growth projects according to strategic value, capital efficiency, portfolio fit, and implementation requirements.
  • Maintain a live and prioritized pipeline of growth opportunities supported by defensible high-level economics.
  • Optimize long-term gas molecule allocation across competing uses and destinations.
  • Balance supply and demand across the portfolio to improve utilization and profitability.
  • Evaluate alternative allocation scenarios under changing production, infrastructure, and market conditions.
  • Quantify potential curtailment and identify actions that can minimize lost production or value.
  • Apply portfolio optimization logic to avoid, defer, reduce, or restructure CAPEX requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to use existing infrastructure before recommending new construction.
  • Evaluate whether capacity can be unlocked through operational changes, debottlenecking, rerouting, or targeted modification.
  • Protect continuity of CAPEX avoidance and capacity optimization initiatives during organizational transition.
  • Perform portfolio analytics supporting major investment decisions.
  • Conduct scenario testing to assess alternative development, capacity, allocation, and investment pathways.
  • Prepare strategic recommendations for executive management.
  • Ensure recommendations can withstand Investment Committee review and formal value assurance processes.
  • Quantify economic value associated with optimization recommendations and portfolio decisions.
  • Maintain clear documentation supporting assumptions, methodologies, decisions, and realized value.
  • Verify claimed optimization benefits and track delivered value against approved expectations.
  • Interface with Engineering to establish priorities for technical studies, simulations, and design evaluations.
  • Define the business questions and decision requirements that technical teams must address.
  • Ensure technical outputs from Engineering are translated efficiently into portfolio-level decisions.
  • Maintain clear accountability between portfolio planning and specialist technical functions.
  • Coordinate complex cross-divisional interfaces without creating unnecessary delays in decision-making.
  • Resolve competing priorities between assets, projects, functions, and business objectives.
  • Integrate long-term strategic signals from Business Intelligence, outlooks, and scenario planning.
  • Balance immediate optimization opportunities against longer-term market, capacity, and strategic requirements.
  • Lead development of planning methodologies, analytical frameworks, and portfolio optimization processes.
  • Maintain consistency between strategic plans, capacity forecasts, production assumptions, and investment recommendations.
  • Build, lead, and develop the planning and optimization team.
  • Allocate responsibilities according to portfolio priorities and business requirements.
  • Develop technical, commercial, analytical, and leadership capability within the team.
  • Support UAE National development in line with Emiratisation objectives.
  • Protect technical credibility and retain critical organizational knowledge during periods of transition.
  • Provide clear portfolio insights to senior management for timely decision-making.
  • Ensure planning outputs are transparent, traceable, documented, and supported by appropriate verification.
Ideal Profile

The position requires a Bachelor 's degree in Engineering, Business, or an equivalent relevant discipline. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in integrated planning, value chain optimization, portfolio management, production planning, asset strategy, or closely related activities. Strong experience within gas, oil and gas, energy, infrastructure, or another complex asset-intensive environment is highly relevant. The successful candidate should understand long-term capacity planning, production forecasting, supply-demand balancing, asset optimization, capital allocation, project screening, and investment governance. Candidates should be able to evaluate opportunities at portfolio level without becoming dependent on detailed engineering ownership. The role requires enough technical understanding to challenge assumptions, prioritize studies, interpret engineering outputs, and convert those findings into business decisions. Experience assessing debottlenecking, capacity expansion, CAPEX avoidance, infrastructure utilization, and growth projects will be particularly valuable. Strong commercial judgment is required to develop recommendations that can withstand executive, Investment Committee, and value assurance scrutiny. The position also requires proven leadership capability, matrix management skills, organizational influence, and the ability to maintain decision speed across multiple divisions and specialist functions.
