EDGE in Abu Dhabi is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies, responsible for design, engineering and manufacturing of engine control systems.

The role focuses on real-time embedded firmware for ECUs/FADECs in gas turbines, with DO-178C, MISRA and ISO 26262, hands-on with ARM Cortex-M, Infineon Aurix, and close collaboration with hardware and safety teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of embedded software experience in aerospace, defense, or automotive safety-critical systems.
• Proven experience with bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded software development.
• Hands-on experience with MCUs such as ARM Cortex-M, TI C2000, Infineon Aurix.
• Solid understanding of control systems, signal processing, and real-time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement real-time embedded software for engine control units (ECUs) and FADECs.
• Develop structured C/C++ code adhering to safety-critical standards such as DO-178C, MISRA, and ISO 26262.
• Interface with MATLAB/Simulink models and convert them into embedded code or integrate with auto-code generators.
• Integrate firmware with hardware (MCUs, FPGAs, power drivers, sensors, actuators) in coordination with hardware engineers.
• Develop SIL and HIL tests using tools such as dSPACE, NI, or Vector.
• Lead root cause analysis and debugging using oscilloscopes and diagnostic tools.
• Generate software requirements, design descriptions, traceability matrices, test plans, and verification artifacts.
• Support safety assessments and participate in FMEA and system-level hazard analyses.
• Contribute to configuration management using Git, SVN, or equivalent tools.
