Job summary

EDGE seeks a skilled engineer for POWERTECH to design and validate propulsion control systems for advanced engines. Based in Abu Dhabi, you will develop control laws, model systems in Simulink/MATLAB, and ensure compliance with aviation certification processes.

You will collaborate with performance, software, and mechanical teams, handling start-up/shutdown logic, testing, and model-based design workflows to deliver robust, certifiable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency creating system and controller models in Simulink/MATLAB and performing simulations.
• Knowledge of closed-loop control, PID, state-space, and frequency-domain analysis.
• Understanding jet engine dynamics, operating principles, and functions.
• Experience with model-based design (MBD) workflows.
• Familiarity with requirements engineering and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Analyze jet engine system requirements and define control system requirements.
• Develop control laws and control algorithms for jet engine control (fuel metering, speed/thrust governing, limit protection).
• Create models and perform simulations in Simulink/MATLAB.
• Develop and integrate start-up, shutdown, and transient/steady-state control modes.
• Validate and verify control system requirements.
• Generate and review code from models (auto-code generation) where applicable.
• Commission developed designs on relevant systems.
• Verify designs through MIL, SIL, HIL and engine tests.
• Analyze test and simulation results and prepare technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with aviation certification processes.
• Maintain traceability between system, control, and software levels.
• Prepare required design documentation.
• Collaborate with performance, software, and mechanical teams.
