Job summary

EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer for POWERTECH to drive the design and development of power electronics architectures for high-power motor drive systems used in aerospace and defense applications.

You will design inverters, gate drivers, magnetics, and thermal solutions, select semiconductors, and collaborate with system, software, and certification teams to bring modules from concept to qualification.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in power electronics and motor drive hardware design.
Strong knowledge of switching converter topologies and electrical machines.
Experience with gate driver design, dead-time management, and protection.
Experience with power semiconductor selection, loss calculation, and thermal derating.
Experience with schematic/PCB layout tools and power electronics simulation.
Familiarity with environmental qualification standards (MIL-STD-461, -810, -704, RTCA/DO-160).
Knowledge of RTCA/DO-254 and requirements traceability.

Responsibilities

Develop power electronics architectures for motor drive and MGU units.
Design inverter, rectifier, and bridge stages for PMSM, BLDC, and BDC machines.
Create gate driver, protection, and isolation circuits for high-power stages.
Design starter/generator power conversion, rectification, and regulation circuits.
Select power semiconductors and perform loss/derating analyses.
Design magnetics and DC-link/EMI filter stages.
Perform thermal design and heatsink sizing for power circuits.
Design sensing, isolation, and feedback circuits for closed-loop control.
PCB layout and schematic design, high-current/high-voltage considerations.
Simulate and verify with LTspice, PLECS, PSIM, and Simulink.
Ensure EMC/EMI-aware designs and environmental qualification readiness.
Plan and support bring-up, integration, and qualification tests.
Coordinate with system, software, electrical machine, test, and certification teams.
