Role Context

The Senior Procurement Engineer will manage the complete procurement cycle for aluminium extrusions, facade components, metals, glass-related products, and supporting materials required for construction and manufacturing operations. The position combines technical material knowledge with commercial negotiation, supplier management, contractual understanding, and cost control to ensure the right materials are secured at competitive terms and delivered in line with project and production schedules.

The role will also contribute to value engineering and supplier development by monitoring aluminium markets, identifying reliable local and international sources, and reducing procurement risk without compromising quality, specification compliance, or delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of aluminium, facade components, extrusions, metals, and related construction materials.
• Develop sourcing strategies aligned with engineering specifications, manufacturing demand, project schedules, and approved budgets.
• Identify and prequalify capable local and international manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators, and subcontractors.
• Issue RFQs and obtain technically and commercially competitive quotations from approved and potential suppliers.
• Conduct commercial bid evaluations covering pricing, payment terms, lead times, logistics, warranties, and contractual conditions.
• Negotiate prices, commercial terms, credit arrangements, delivery schedules, and payment conditions to achieve optimum project value.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders, subcontract agreements, procurement packages, and supporting commercial documentation.
• Coordinate procurement schedules with project milestones, manufacturing programs, and material requirement plans.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely production, shipment, delivery, and documentation.
• Monitor supplier performance against quality, cost, lead time, responsiveness, and delivery commitments.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships while developing alternative sources to reduce supply-chain dependency and commercial risk.
• Work closely with Engineering teams to clarify technical specifications, approved manufacturers, substitutions, and material requirements.
• Coordinate with Projects and Production teams to ensure procurement priorities match actual construction and fabrication needs.
• Support Planning teams with realistic procurement lead times and supplier delivery information.
• Collaborate with QA/QC teams on material approvals, supplier quality requirements, inspections, certificates, and compliance issues.
• Coordinate with Logistics teams regarding international shipments, freight arrangements, customs documentation, and material movement.
• Liaise with Finance regarding payment terms, supplier accounts, commercial documentation, and contractual obligations.
• Conduct market research covering aluminium pricing, commodity movements, supplier capacity, availability, and industry trends.
• Track price fluctuations and identify the appropriate sourcing timing for critical aluminium and metal requirements.
• Review procurement activities against approved budgets and highlight significant cost variances.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through negotiation, alternative sourcing, bulk purchasing, standardization, and value engineering.
• Evaluate proposed material alternatives without compromising required technical specifications, quality, or project performance.
• Maintain procurement records, supplier evaluations, quotation comparisons, contractual correspondence, and Purchase Order documentation.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures, approval authorities, quality standards, and commercial controls.
• Support resolution of supplier disputes, delivery delays, contractual issues, and material non-conformities.
• Apply contractual and international commercial principles when negotiating local and overseas supply agreements.

Ideal Profile

Bachelor 's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Supply Chain, or a closely related discipline. Minimum 8 years of professional procurement experience with substantial responsibility for technical and commercial sourcing activities. Strong background in aluminium, metals, manufacturing, facade systems, aluminium-glass construction, or related industrial procurement is required. Candidates should understand aluminium extrusions, facade components, fabrication materials, technical specifications, supplier capabilities, manufacturing lead times, and commercial market dynamics.

Practical experience preparing RFQs, commercial comparisons, Purchase Orders, subcontract agreements, procurement schedules, and supplier performance evaluations is essential. Strong negotiation capability is required, particularly for pricing, payment terms, lead times, delivery obligations, contractual conditions, and international sourcing. Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is highly valuable. The successful candidate should also have strong knowledge of contractual principles, international commercial terms, supplier agreements, and procurement risk management.
