Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in General Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery or Transplant Surgery.
• Substantial consultant-level experience in liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery.
• Experience in assessment and management of liver transplant patients, including pre/postoperative care.
• Ability to lead within a multidisciplinary transplant team and uphold patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert surgical assessment and management of patients requiring liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery.
• Participate in evaluation, selection, and preparation of suitable liver transplant candidates.
• Perform liver transplant procedures and complex hepatobiliary operations within approved privileges.
• Manage preoperative and postoperative care, including transplant-related complications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hepatologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, radiologists, pathologists, and specialist nursing teams.
• Contribute to transplant programme development, clinical protocols, evidence-based guidelines, and care pathways.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical governance, documentation, and quality improvement.
• Participate in clinical audits, research, education, and professional development activities.

• Demonstrable experience in the assessment and management of liver transplant patients, including preoperative and postoperative care.

• Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
