Qualifications

• Proven expertise in liver transplantation and multi-organ procedures.

Responsibilities

About the Role

This consultant position centers on the surgical and clinical management of patients undergoing liver transplantation. The surgeon will perform complex transplant procedures, participate in organ procurement and provide coordinated care throughout the transplant pathway. The scope also includes complex hepatobiliary surgery and, where required, participation in kidney, pancreas, and other abdominal organ transplant procedures.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency.
• Fellowship training in Abdominal Organ Transplant Surgery and-or Hepatobiliary Surgery.
• Board Certification in General Surgery.
• Fellowship or Board Certification in Transplant Surgery is highly desirable.
• Minimum 5-10 years of post-fellowship consultant-level experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in liver transplantation.
• Experience performing both living donor and deceased donor liver transplants.
• Proven experience in complex HPB surgery.
• Experience in kidney, pancreas, or multi-organ transplantation is preferred.

Clinical Skills

Advanced expertise in liver transplant surgery is essential, supported by strong clinical judgment and decision-making in complex surgical cases. The consultant should demonstrate excellent microsurgical and vascular anastomosis skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary transplant specialists. Strong communication and leadership capabilities are required, together with a commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement. Experience in clinical research and teaching is an advantage.
