Job summary

Black Pearl Consult in Dubai, UAE, seeks an Experienced Consultant Liver Transplant Surgeon to lead complex hepatobiliary procedures and transplant care. This role demands a proven track record in liver transplantation, pre- and postoperative management, and the ability to drive multidisciplinary collaboration.

You will participate in candidate evaluation, programme development, and clinical governance, ensuring patient safety and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in General Surgery or an equivalent hepatobiliary/transplant surgery pathway.
• Substantial Consultant-level experience in liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery.
• Experience in assessment and management of liver transplant patients, including preoperative and postoperative care.
• Experience with multidisciplinary transplant teams and strong leadership and communication skills.
• Eligibility for UAE healthcare licensing and credentialing.
• Candidates with experience in established liver transplant centres, programme development, research and clinical quality improvement are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert surgical assessment and management of liver transplant patients and complex hepatobiliary surgery.
• Participate in evaluation, selection, and preparation of suitable liver transplant candidates.
• Perform liver transplant procedures and complex hepatobiliary operations within approved privileges and clinical practice.
• Manage preoperative and postoperative care, including transplant-related complications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hepatologists, anaesthesiologists, intensivists, radiologists, pathologists, and specialist nursing teams.
• Contribute to transplant programme development, clinical protocols, evidence-based guidelines, and care pathways.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical governance, documentation, and quality improvement.
• Participate in clinical audits, research, education, and professional development activities.
• Support effective communication with patients and families throughout the treatment pathway.
