Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Senior Engineer - Water (Hydrology & Stormwater) to lead hydrology, stormwater and drainage design for high-profile UAE infrastructure and land development projects.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, strong modelling skills (InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, StormCAD, MicroDrainage, Civil 3D) and a collaborative approach to deliver sustainable, climate-resilient solutions while supporting project delivery and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in hydrology, stormwater and drainage design.
• Experience delivering infrastructure and land development projects in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of hydrological/hydraulic modelling principles.
• Proficiency with software such as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, StormCAD, MicroDrainage, Civil 3D or equivalent.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with local authority requirements, standards, and approval processes.
• Strong report writing, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake hydrology, drainage design, flood risk analyses, and stormwater management designs for infrastructure and land development projects.
• Perform hydrological and hydraulic modelling, including rainfall analysis, runoff calculations, flood modelling, and drainage network assessments.
• Develop sustainable drainage solutions and support climate-resilient infrastructure design.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design drawings, and modelling outputs.
• Ensure designs comply with local authority requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Support project managers and technical leads in delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Assist in identifying design risks, constraints, and opportunities throughout project development.
• Participate in project design reviews and technical workshops.
• Support the preparation of authority submissions and approval documentation.
• Conduct technical analyses and quality checks on project deliverables.
• Support junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Stay current with evolving hydrology practices, modelling tools, and sustainability requirements.
• Maintain high standards of technical quality and project delivery.
• Support proposal preparation, technical studies, and bid activities.
• Assist senior leadership with project planning and technical inputs.
• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the discipline.
