Job summary

Edge Group is seeking a highly skilled HPC Systems Administrator to manage, optimize, and support our high-performance computing environment used for CFD and FEA workloads. This role covers full lifecycle operations, including infrastructure, scheduling, security, and capacity planning.

The ideal candidate has strong Linux administration experience, deep HPC scheduler knowledge, and hands-on familiarity with engineering simulation tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 3–7 years of experience administering Linux-based HPC clusters.
• Strong knowledge of HPC schedulers (Slurm/PBS/LSF/Grid Engine).
• Experience with MPI, OpenMP, and distributed computing.
• Familiarity with CFD/FEA solvers and engineering workflows.
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python).
• Experience with high-speed networking and parallel file systems.

Responsibilities

• A. Infrastructure Management: Maintain and administer compute nodes, login nodes, NAS storage servers, and InfiniBand.
• B. Scheduler & Resource Management: Configure and tune job schedulers; implement fair-share scheduling and QoS.
• C. User Access, Security & Compliance: Manage user accounts, SSH access, MFA, and security controls.
• D. Software Stack Management: Install, update licenses for engineering solvers (ANSYS, Siemens, NASTRAN).
• E. Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor node utilization, queue performance, and benchmark CFD/FEA workloads.
• F. Troubleshooting & User Support: Diagnose job crashes, help with HPC batch scripting, provide training.
• G. Storage & Data Lifecycle Management: Enforce quotas, backups, and parallel file systems operations.
• H. Capacity Planning & Future Growth: Plan expansion, assess new hardware, contribute to HPC roadmap.
