Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced Hook-Up and Brownfield Manager in the UAE to lead planning, coordination and execution of hook‑up, brownfield modifications and tie‑ins for major offshore or onshore projects. You will ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence while managing interfaces between client, EPC contractors and operations teams.

The role requires a proven track record in PMC/EPC/operator environments, strong leadership and deep knowledge of SIMOPS, LOTO and commissioning interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation or Civil) or related discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of oil and gas experience, with at least 8 years in hook‑up, brownfield, construction, commissioning or site management.
• Proven experience coordinating brownfield modifications, shutdowns, tie‑ins and hook‑up activities within a PMC, EPC or operator environment.
• Experience on live operating facilities (offshore or onshore), refineries or petrochemical plants.
• Strong knowledge of brownfield execution methodologies, constructability, work‑pack development and commissioning interfaces.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary contractors and interfaces between construction, operations, maintenance, engineering and commissioning teams.
• Strong understanding of permit‑to‑work, SIMOPS, isolation management, LOTO, confined-space entry, hot work and other safety controls.
• Knowledge of international codes, standards, client specs and HSE requirements.
• Experience with shutdown and turnaround planning, tie‑in execution, pre‑commissioning, commissioning and handover.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make timely decisions in an operational environment.
• Offshore certifications (BOSIET, H2S, offshore medical) may be required; Middle East project experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all hook‑up, brownfield modification, tie‑in and pre‑commissioning activities per project scope, schedule, budget and execution strategy.
• Serve as the primary PMC focal point for hook‑up and brownfield activities among client, EPC contractor, operations, engineering, commissioning and site management.
• Ensure full HSE compliance with live‑plant safety, SIMOPS, isolation management and worksite control.
• Supervise contractor performance and ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, method statements, risk assessments and quality requirements.
• Coordinate brownfield surveys, site verification, constructability reviews, temporary works, modifications and system reinstatement.
• Develop and maintain detailed hook‑up and brownfield execution plans, work packs, schedules and interfaces.
• Review and approve method statements, JSA, lifting plans, isolation plans, permitting and construction procedures.
• Coordinate shutdowns/turnarounds and tie‑ins within approved windows; manage interfaces with operations and facilities.
• Manage interfaces between new facilities and existing assets (operations, maintenance, engineering, commissioning).
• Ensure effective permit‑to‑work, lockout/tagout, gas testing and energy isolation controls.
• Monitor progress, productivity, materials and resources; address constraints with corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering/procurement to resolve technical queries and field modifications.
• Ensure punch lists, system completion, testing, handover dossiers and as‑built documentation are completed.
