Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Explosives Manager to serve as a senior technical and strategic advisor for explosives safety, regulatory compliance, and licensing. The role covers manufacturing, testing, storage, handling, transport, and demilitarisation, with emphasis on risk management and safe operations.

You will provide guidance across projects, lead safety reviews, audits, incident investigations, and collaborate with operations, engineering, HSE, quality, and management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of explosives or ammunition manufacturing and testing experience.
• Experience in explosives ordnance destruction and/or demilitarisation activities.
• Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of explosives manufacturing best practices and risk-assessment principles.
• Knowledge of explosives properties and hazards.
• Understanding of regulations governing explosives manufacturing, handling, and storage.
• Knowledge of HSE, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to meet medical fitness and security-clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with UAE explosives regulations and internal requirements.
• Prepare, review, and maintain explosives operating and storage facility licences.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative explosives risk assessments for existing operations and new facilities.
• Provide specialist guidance on safe manufacturing, handling, transportation, storage and testing of explosives.
• Review and approve explosives procedures and safe working practices.
• Conduct internal compliance audits against regulations and requirements.
• Provide technical safety guidance for demilitarisation and safe destruction of explosives.
• Lead investigations into explosives-related incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Capture and communicate lessons learned to prevent recurrence and improve safety.
• Provide technical advice to operations, engineering, HSE, quality and management.
• Support budget planning, forecasting and cost control for explosives management.
• Promote a strong explosives safety and compliance culture.
