Job summary

EDGE, based in the United Arab Emirates, seeks an experienced Explosives Manager to advise on safety, regulatory compliance, licensing, and best practices for explosives manufacturing. The role covers storage, handling, testing, demilitarisation, and risk management across operations.

The successful candidate will lead investigations, provide technical guidance to engineering, HSE and management, and support budgeting for explosives management activities. UAE regulations knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in explosives or ammunition manufacturing and testing environments.
• Experience in explosives ordnance destruction and/or demilitarisation activities.
• Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of explosives manufacturing best practices and risk assessment principles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with UAE explosives regulations, internal requirements, and industry best practices.
• Prepare, review, and maintain explosives operating and storage facility licences.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative explosives risk assessments for existing operations, plant modifications, and new facilities.
• Provide specialist technical guidance on safe manufacturing, handling, transportation, storage and testing of explosive materials.
• Review and approve explosives manufacturing procedures and safe working practices.
• Lead internal compliance audits against applicable explosives regulations and organizational requirements.
• Provide technical safety guidance for demilitarisation, safe disassembly, destruction, and testing of explosive materials.
• Lead investigations into explosives-related incidents, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Capture and communicate lessons learned to prevent recurrence and continuously improve explosives safety.
• Provide technical advice to operational, engineering, HSE, quality, and management stakeholders.
• Support budget planning, forecasting, and cost control related to explosives management activities.
• Promote a strong explosives safety and compliance culture across relevant operations.
